“Then what exactly do you suggest Jack? There’s–” “No. Absolutely not.” Chief interrupted my friend. I glanced back at my friend. He was already looking at me with his lips pursed, and holding his ax with both of his hands. Before he could finish his upward nod, I stoically turned back towards the tree I was working on. I took a deep breath and then I dropped the ax to stick it on one of the trunks. “But I–” “Then leave. If you won’t make yourself of any use, then don’t become an obstacle.” Chief startled some birds with his voice. We all looked up and I noticed they were all flying south.

I readjusted my bandage on my left arm and tightened my wound. And walked away. I fought my thoughts on the urge to look back. Just to prove that at least somebody cared, but I was too worried I would get disappointed by it. But I won’t even give them that. I’ll be back.
